Lichens Make a Great Embroidery Project

Outside my window the fence is looking very productive after recent rains.
Another photo taken in Queens Park shows a different aspect of moss and lichens

How often we dismiss the small details of our surroundings, but the camera really picks up the beauty of our lichens.
This sort of photo inspires me to try to reproduce the shapes and textures of the lichens on rocks in embroidery. It is a great exercise to explore various stitches to create these textures.
