When a company puts out a new yarn, as a knitter, the first thing I want to do is to try it.  Ashford's Machine Washable Merino Double Knit is a lively yarn made up of 4 strands of 2 ply.  When knitted it gives a firm but soft, lively garment with a smooth feel.  Because of the 4 strands twisted together it is a lovely round yarn which gives great stitch definition. The set took 220 gms (just over 4 balls)

I have made this baby set to fit a 6 month old, to keep a little man cosy and warm on a cold day..  Now to decide which colours I will knit next...!
