What is Teddy Thinking?

At the Southland Embroiderers' Guild each year there is a challenge.  The title this year was "Through a Window".  This was my project, inspired by all of the teddies in windows during lockdown and the rejuvenation of our city centre.  Here teddy is looking out to the Southland Times Building and further down Esk Street.  The Times Building facade will be kept in the rejuvenation.  Maybe he is wondering where all the people are....

It was stitched in stranded cottons.  The buildings were printed on silk and highlighted.  Teddy and the window were drawn separately on calico.  Teddy was stitched with Turkey stitch and then trimmed to make his fur..  This part was cut out and stitched over the background picture with plastic used for the window
