Embroidery Project - Moss Covered Gate

This embroidery was created from a photograph taken by Tony Maheno Photography. 

He has given me permission to use it.  

I copied the photo onto fabric, outlined the gate and post, cut it out and stitched them onto a background silk fabric with a light felt padding under them.  I then embroidered over the colours to create a textured look to depict the weathered look of the old gate

The picture below gives a close up of the detail.  It was an enjoyable project and I plan to do more similar to this
